  • In 2009 Dr. Kristiansen founded GlycaNova, a company developing products for immune modulation using beta glucans. Before this he was Director of Research at Borregaard Industries in Norway. From 1988 until 1996 he lectured at Strathclyde University in Scotland. Here he founded the Strathclyde Fermentation Centre and was appointed Robertson Professor of Bioprocess Technology in 1990.He has acted as a consultant to the United Nations International Development Organisation and has served as a board member or chairman on a number of European committees including the European Federation of Biotechnology Section on Biochemical Engineering Science and the  European Federation of Biotechnology Working Party for Bioreactor Performance. He has also worked as a consultant to 16 biotech companies worldwide.His areas of expertise are fermentation technology and downstream processing and is author of more than 100 scientific papers, 5 books and 34 patents.
